IAN SUTHERLAND Producer
Ian has been in the film industry since 1988, working in all aspects of the business from Marketing, Distribution, Finance, Production as well as several key Industry board positions. Having started in Sydney with United International Pictures as head of Marketing, he was relocated to London in 1995 to run the International Marketing for Universal, Paramount, MGM and Dreamworks. After 5 years in London, he relocated to Los Angeles as Executive Vice President, International Theatrical Marketing and Distribution with MGM and was instrumental in setting up their International Division. Ian has overseen the Marketing and Distribution of literally hundreds of film releases including Major Hollywood blockbusters, local Australian films, art and indie films and has been involved with all major film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Deauville and London. Whilst in LA, Ian was on the board of Australians in Film, lectured at USC and was on the anti - piracy sub-committee for the Motion Picture Authority. Ian also was a consultant to the Australian Movie Convention for several years, as well as being employed by EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment , as their Group Director Marketing. He was on the board for AACTA in Australia and has completed the Producer’s Course at the Metro Film and TV school. He is currently a BAFTA voting member and an Advisory Board member for the New York Australian Screen Forum.
STEVE PASVOLSKY Producer/Director
Steve’s short drama INJA, which he wrote and directed whilst a student at AFTRS, was nominated for an Academy Award™ in 2003. Since graduating, he's written, directed and produced a broad range of documentaries for National Geographic, Discovery and the ABC as well as a narrative feature for UNIVERSAL PICTURES. In 2018, Steve wrote and directed JOHN EALES REVELS: THE HAKA, a feature documentary for Discovery Channel, which recently won a Medal at the Olympic Committee’s Sports Press Association Awards (2019) for journalism. Later that year Steve wrote and directed CHRISTMAS SOUNDS BETTER THIS YEAR, a one-hour documentary for the ABC. He followed that film with CALIBRATE, a feature documentary which recently won the Audience Award at the Awareness Film Festival (USA). THE POWER OF ACTIVISM which Steve directed, recently won Best Australian Documentary at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival 2022 and is due for broadcast on SBS in 2023. Steve’s latest project was to produce the feature drama THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH, due to be released in 2023.
CLAIRE PASVOLSKY Writer/Director
Dr Claire Pasvolsky has a PhD in Screenwriting (Media and Communications) at The University of Newcastle, Australia. Claire released her debut feature film THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH in 2023, which she wrote and directed. The music-based drama was officially selected for Sydney Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, Cinefest Oz and Vision Splendid. The film was distributed nationally in Australia through Bonsai Films and recently won ‘Best Director (budget under $1M) at the Australian Director’s Guild Awards 2023. Previously, Claire began her career as an actor, graduating with an MA in Drama (Acting) from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Claire directed the award-winning documentary BIG SKY GIRLS (Cinequest, BIFF), which screened on Australian channels SBS and NITV. She also produced the award-winning feature documentary CALIBRATE which won the Audience Award at the Awareness Film Festival (USA). SEEK AND DESTROY is Claire’s follow up feature drama which is currently in development. In addition, she is writing and developing multiple film and TV projects in both Drama and Factual for Film Quarter.
