IAN SUTHERLAND FOUNDER | Producer

Ian Sutherland has worked in all aspects of the film business from Marketing, Distribution, Finance, Production as well as several key Industry board positions. He began his career in Sydney with United International Pictures as head of Marketing. He relocated to London in 1995 to run the International Marketing for Universal, Paramount, MGM and Dreamworks. After 5 years in that position, he relocated to Los Angeles as Executive Vice President, International Theatrical Marketing and Distribution with MGM and was instrumental in setting up their International Division. Ian has overseen the Marketing and Distribution of literally hundreds of film releases including Major Hollywood blockbusters, local Australian films, and has been involved with major film festivals. After returning to Australia, he became head of Marketing at Event Entertainment. As Founder of Film Quarter, Ian Executive Produced the features films 'Three Chords and the Truth' and soon to be released 'The Policewoman', as well as Factual Series ‘Extreme Minds’

 

STEVE PASVOLSKY FOUNDER | Producer

Steve Pasvolsky was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for the short film 'Inja', which he wrote and directed whilst studying at AFTRS. Steve has directed and produced numerous documentaries and dramas for Universal, Discovery, ABC and SBS. He directed the award winning 'John Eales Reveals: The Haka' for Discovery and 'Christmas Sounds Better This Year', 'Searching for Angelina' and 'Iceberg' for ABCTV. He directed the feature documentary 'Calibrate' and the award winning 'Power of Activism' for SBS and NITV. He produced the feature drama 'Three Chords and the Truth' (ADG Award Winner) and the soon to be released Screen Australia funded feature documentary 'The Policewoman' (Bonsai Films) as well as the factual series ‘Extreme Minds’. Steve is currently developing a slate of feature films, feature documentaries and series for Film Quarter.

CLAIRE PASVOLSKY Writer | Director

Dr Claire Pasvolsky has a PhD in Screenwriting (Media and Communications) from The University of Newcastle, Australia. Claire released her debut feature film THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH in 2023, which she wrote and directed. The music-based drama was officially selected for Sydney Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, Cinefest Oz and Vision Splendid. The film was distributed nationally in Australia through Bonsai Films and recently won ‘Best Director (budget under $1M) at the Australian Director’s Guild Awards 2023. Previously, Claire directed the award-winning documentary BIG SKY GIRLS (Cinequest, BIFF), which screened on Australian channels SBS and NITV. She also produced the award-winning feature documentary CALIBRATE which won the Audience Award at the Awareness Film Festival (USA). Claire directed the soon to be released true crime feature documentary 'The Policewoman' (Bonsai Films), which was funded by Screen Australia.

SARA EHRLICH

WRITER | DIRECTOR

Sara Ehrlich is an Australian writer, director and producer whose work is grounded in emotional honesty and a genuine curiosity about people. She is currently directing her debut feature-length documentary based on Emma Carey’s bestselling memoir. Most recently, she directed EXTREME MINDS, a four-part factual television series exploring the mental health benefits of extreme sports (releasing in 2026), and produced and directed TRAIN TO NOWHERE for Australian artist Chloe Maye.

Her short documentary LIVING ON THE LINE (2021) toured cinemas throughout Australia and New Zealand through the Wild Film Festival before screening internationally across the United States, Canada and Europe, including at Breckenridge Film Festival, Sydney Women’s International Film Festival and Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, where it was a finalist for Best Australian Short. In 2023, her freediving short profiling shark attack survivor Anika Craney and her journey with PTSD also toured cinemas across Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

A graduate of the University of Technology Sydney (Bachelor of Communication, Media Arts and Production), Sara crafts immersive, visually striking films that seek out the truth at the centre of every story, inviting audiences into transformative, deeply human experiences.

DAVID SAWICKI EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

David Sawicki is a business advisor and the founder and director of Third Wave Ideas, specialising in advising B2B service companies - consultancies, agencies, professional service firms, Technology, Startups and Ups .

For 30 years, David has been helping companies crack their toughest challenges, optimise their performance and build more profitable businesses. Essentially, he connects great ideas with the right teams for world-class execution and helps businesses fulfil their potential and reach their goals.

Having co-founded Impact Employees Communications, that was acquired by Singleton Group Limited and renamed Ogilvy Impact (award winning communications company with a global network), David invests his extensive client and agency experience into managing growth and development in his roles at production company Film Quarter, marketing and advisory group Bastion Collective, WT Partnership Stable Research.

BIN LI

Post-PRODUCTION PRODUCER

Bin Li is a Beijing-born filmmaker with over two decades of experience across film editing and post-production. He began his editing career on celluloid straight out of high school, before completing a Master of Arts in Film Production at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
Over the course of his career, Bin has worked on major international and Australian productions alongside award-winning editors Mark Warner, Lee Smith, Tim Wellburn and Nicholas Beauman, and directors Bruce Beresford, Peter Weir, Baz Luhrmann, Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige. His credits include Moulin Rouge!, House of Flying Daggers and The Way Back.
More recently, Bin has expanded into producing across short films, documentaries and features. At Film Quarter, he oversees post-production across the company's slate of award-winning films and series.
